Lula B.'s Rhythm Cafe
The Rhythm is calling! The Lula B. Sherman Ensemble and Band are performing on Saturday, May 30, 2026 at Lula B. Sherman United Methodist Church, Winfield Hall; 2214 Ridge Avenue, Evanston.
The Ensemble features vocalists Veronica Davenport, Venita Fields and Debbie Chisolm-Wynter. These three divas will perform a collection of Jazz and R&B favorites including music from the songbooks of Aretha Franklin, Sade and Roberta Flack. The Ensemble will be accompanied by band members Jeffrey Hardy, Darryl Petty, Chris Greene, Vuyani Wakaba and Charlie Horne and guest singers, Kusawn Carr Foster and Gary Wood.
The performance will consist of two sets with a 20-minute intermission. Complimentary refreshments will be served during intermission provided by local Evanston restaurateurs Clarence and Wendy Weaver, owners of C&W Market. Please join us for this celebratory cultural event.
Tickets are $30.00. Students can purchase a ticket for $20.00 at the door with a student ID.

Aromatherapy Session
The Health and Wellness Ministry and Sister Sylvia Corcoron, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, will lead us in exploring how plant-based gifts from God’s creation can support our mental and physical well-being.

Evanston Community Cares Food Drive
The Evanston Community Cares Food Drive is looking for donations and volunteers on March 28–29. This is a great opportunity to serve our Evanston community this weekend!
All are welcome to sign up to volunteer. Teens are especially encouraged and will receive official community service hours. Volunteers may also pack and take home their own box of food and essentials on Saturday.
